The bartenders were great (Vernon, Lincoln, Michelle). The pool/beach attendants (Steve, Charlton) were the best! They always had "our" chairs (with towels) ready on the beach in the morning. It was nice to wake up hearing Donovan singing in the gardens and seeing his big smile when you walk out the door. Everyday was a happy day in Jamaica mon!!! Mr. Ennis and Dahlia calm and patient manner was a great help to me when I had an issue with the service I received at the restaurant on the property. The care they showed in keeping the guest happy along with their remarkable problem-solving abilities is rare indeed. This was our third trip to Jamaica, second to Negril, and first time at Cocolapalm. Cocolapalm has a great location and the widest stretch of beach in Negril, right in the middle of the open 7-mile Negril beach so you can walk the surf to either end. We had a wonderful oceanview room, clean, air-conditioned, even with cable TV (not really needed). The facilities, staff, and service were all great. Where else do you find a fresh hibiscus on your pillow after housekeeping? If you need something, just ask! My wife liked the reggae they were playing at the restaurant, and Mr. Ellis (who wasn’t there that morning) made a special trip back to get her a copy. The pool and Jacuzzi were nice, clean, cool, and inviting (though the beach was better). The rooms are connected with walks through a beautiful garden, tropical flowers, plants, and small trees. (The ackee trees were fruiting in December). We ate at the restaurant every day, really enjoyed the breakfasts (try the ackee and saltfish!), and especially the grilled snapper. We walked south to the town of Negril twice, and wandered the beach each night for the seafood dinners and live music. Cocolapalm had a really cool local acoustic group (the "Jamaica Sunshine Mento Band," a banjo, two guitars, and big thumb piano the player sat on to play melody and percussion both). We started our trip with mechanical problems on plane so we arrived 3 hours late but everything was wonderful after that. Loved seeing CLP staff/friends & returning to this beautiful property. The gardens are always blooming & the new planting where the fence was, is really filling in & lush. CLP does its best to keep the resort maintained but sometimes there are issues. This time the Hot Tub was not HOT since they are waiting for a new heater. Running the Hot Tub 24/7 makes them go thru lots of heater motors. This was a disappointment since I love to sit under the stars in the Hot Tub (not cold tub). Our phone was not working in room 733 but that was a blessing, we enjoyed not hearing a phone ring & they just sent staff to tell us if we had visitors. Overall we had an awesome time at CLP, as always. CLP food was still great & the staff very attentive. If you want special food not on the menu, just talk to your waiter or cook & he will prepare special items to your tastes. I love that CLP pampers their guests... No worries, No Problem Mon! I contacted the hotel a few days before to have a bottle of champagne and a fruit platter to be ready in our room. It was arranged perfectly. We also got upgraded to a deluxe room. The hotel is clean and the staff is very helpful. Beautiful beach front resort. Very close to downtown and within walking distance to some great restaurants and nightlife. We did not want to come back, the locals make you feel so welcome. Great people, food, music and surroundings. Thank you for a wonderful vacation. Michelle had to have room 733, her favorite ocean front room but Ice & I were unsure which room we wanted. Carlene in reservations was soooo right in recommending Room 532 for us. We loved the large rooms & having 2 separate bedrooms. Little different having toilet off the living room & shower off a bedroom but it was ok. Did not love the smaller shower in 532 especially since it was stopped up the day we arrived. After complaining to Ferron CLP mgr, shower was fixed 2nd day. I wish I could say the same for room 733, took 4 days to get Hot water heater replaced & working again & she did not want to switch rooms. Michelle was not happy but after Ferron understood the problem, he did get it fixed. Other than the shower issues, our stay was awesome! Carlene had the chef make a delicious chocolate cake for Ice's birthday & had it brought out at lunch time for us at Seaside Grill. Our maid did a really pretty flower display on Ice's bed & spelled out Happy Birthday to her. Everyone at CLP helped make sure Ice's birthday was memorable & very happy! The staff is always so accomodating whether they are new to CLP or been there for years. So good to return to see many same faces of JA friends at CLP. Can't say enough good things about all the staff, from Richard, Chester, Charlton, Donovan, Steve, Donna, Michelle, Beverly & so many more! We just came home after staying one glorious week @ CLP(3-29 to 4-5). We've been going home to Jamaica for 20 years but this was our 1st time staying @ CLP. We will most definitely return! CLP was all we'd hoped for and more! As always, one week wasn't enough time but we have many wonderful memories to keep us warm until our next return(returned home to 26 degree temps! ugh!). All CLP services and staff interactions were fabulous beginning w/our arrival and carrying through to our departure. Check in was friendly and efficient and then Chester took us to our room so we could unpack and begin to enjoy... Yeah Mon! We had a 2nd floor junior suite overlooking the beach. Nice room w/great views. We also loved the spacious 2 person shower!!!! This vacation was all about relaxing and downtime for us so after a day spent one the beach, we'd have a few cocktails w/Richard (during happy hour), have dinner, and then we'd retreat to our room/balconey and sit out under the stars talking. However, there's plenty to do/see w/many fun places to walk to if one so chooses. It's all good... A special 'shout out' and our sincerest THANK YOU for exceptional service, fun, & engaging conversations go to Richard, Marlin, Michelle, Clive, ONeil, Ty, and Tony. The folks working for CLP are the 'jewels' of this resort while the lush and tropical foliage is the perfect setting. CLP being located on Negril's 7 Mile Beach only adds to the allure of CLP. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a very relaxed atmosphere. I felt safe with the security guards on the beach. I met some wonderful people and made a few friendships. If asnyone is looking for something to do I would suggest the glass bottom boat ride and go snorkeling down by the coral reefs. If you can handle a horse you should go to The Rhodes Hall Plantation and do the horse back ride thru the mountains and along the beach. At the end you can even go swimming with the horses. So many things to do so pace yourself, or plan another vacation down there. We stayed at a fancy all-inclusive Grand Lido 1st for 3days with my husbands company and then transferred over to the Coco La Palm and was not disappointed. The staff there is very nice and polite to everyone. The gaurds make sure no one bothers you or approaches you unless you want them to. The locals walk up and down the beach selling things and just so you know you can get really good deals that way. The locals seem intimidating at first but once you get used to it you will be a pro quickly. The staff at the grill and bar are great. They will know you from year to year as I noticed. Dr. Rock at the night bar is also great. My husband and I had so many questions about the country and he was very patient with talking with us and has been to the US so he understands what it feels like to be in another country. This place grows on you the longer you stay. Very nice beach, clean grounds and some nice rooms. I would suggest a upgraded room but otherwise no complaints. My sister and I were guests at Negril Beach Club Condos where our unit was so moldy we had to check out. Unfortunately not in time to prevent me from contracting a severe case of bronchitis and asthma related distress. Ms. Karlene Woolcock and her associates checked us in and treated me with great compassion and care. Ms. Woolcock gently implored housekeeping personnel to make certain my room was extra clean (516 even though it had just been cleaned) and my housekeeper Ms. Carol Henry (Smith) did a beautiful job throughout my stay! I cannot say enough about Ms. Woolcock, Ms. Henry, Ron at the main bar, the pool staff and groundskeepers. CoCo LaPalm is beautifully appointed though not too lavish, scrupulously clean and a joy to stay at! We had a great experience property-wide. My only concern was guests being allowed in the restaurants unclothed. For safety as well as aesthetic reasons, guests should be required to wear shoes, shirts and cover their bathing suits. While some people are politely discrete and modest, others "let it all hang out." Body hair and genitalia should not be welcome at the breakfast, lunch or dinner table. You serve with glass, hot drinks and food and an accident involving bare feet or skin could be disasterous. So out of consideration for all guests why not allow the "barely clad" crowd to dine at the grill while allowing those of us who would rather not look at naked, hairy backsides, chests, billowing bosoms et cetera enjoy their meal too at the main restaurant. I love the resort, the rooms are great, the beach is great, the staff is great. The noise level at night is great which is important to me. Some places on the beach and in the West End have alot of noise at night. The owner John is great, and The General Manager is also great without them the Resort would not be what it is. The hospitality is second to none, the security is great as well. I will be at The Resort from January 9th until the 30th unless I stay longer. CocoLaPalm is located in the center of Negrils famous 7 mile beach. This convenient location allows you to walk to different attractions. The town of Negril and Ricks are a short cab ride. Unfortunately cabs can be a little pricey! To me there is really no reason to leave CocoLaPalm. The grounds are immaculate and the security on the beach makes you feel very comfortable. The food is resonably priced and fabulous. Thanks to Roland the Executive Chef, who I must say is a wonderful person! Michelle at the beach bar always makes you smile and serves great drinks. The housekeeping staff are always friendly and keep the rooms very neat and clean. Obviously I love this place, and will be returning for the 3rd time this year to finish planning a party. If it were not for Carlene in reservations helping me make arrangements for 20 people I would have lost my mind. Carlene is a kind, caring and very special person. All of this would not be possible if it were not for the leadership of the General Mgr. William Vassell. Mr. Vassell is an extraordinary person who will go out of his way to help in any situation. Tracy - testrada@cfl.rr.com Palm Coast , Florida United States - 25 July 2006 CoCoLaPalm was truly a dream come true..I had never been to Jamaica and when I visited the web site and read all of the comments I realized that this was it...I came to Negril and I would have to say that this resort had the nicest, cleanest, most relaxing and courteous staff..Everyone takes time to say hello..No need to ask because the staff and ready, willing and very much accomodating..Erica (housekeeping)was very kind to my teddy bear (who travels with me) and kept my room tip-top immaculate..Renee (front desk) always had a smile no matter how many times I came to the front desk to ask questions..Richard Lawrence always came outside and waited with me for cabs so I would not be alone out front..Sharlton and his side kick Reggie(grounds) were so pleasant..Oneil (server) very quick and always checking to make sure we had just what we needed..But in all EVERYONE there treated me like royalty and I hope I did the same for them...I have decided to come back every year to Negril and CCLP will always be my home away from home..Thank you so much and God Bless! We are so use to our everday lives of go,go,go,that went we got there,it took a min. to realize, no problems mon. It took a bit to relax, we did and now we have to adjust to getting back to our everyday lives.Everything in Jamaica was awesome,the beautiful beach,with the prettiest sunset in the whole world, the ocean with the crystal clear blue waters, the everyday with no worrys, that was the best.
